New Members of the Board Appointed!
Following a recent call-out for new members to join the Board of the Midsteeple Quarter, six members of the Dumfries community have been appointed to support our project into its next stages.
Meet the Board: Evie Copland
Evie Copland is a fiercely proud Doonhamer and very excited about what the Midsteeple Quarter project means for the future of Dumfries. She is 27 and works in social housing for DGHP based in Dumfries, working on a digital transformation programme.
Meet the Board: John Dowson
First up in our ‘Meet the Board’ series is High Street resident, John Dowson. John is retired at 70 years old. He was an antique and fine art dealer for 40 years, as well as a town centre councillor for 11 years. From 1995-99, he was the Leader of the Council and in 2000 was appointed Dumfries Town Centre Manager for two years.
Doon Toon Army Guid Nychburris Float
Hello fellow Doon Toon Army members! Would you be interested in taking part in a float during the ‘Guid Nychburris’ parade to promote the Midsteeple Quarter Project alongside other groups in the community? A float which celebrates community participation and allows the people of Dumfries to see what they too can be involved in?
Race Night Fundraiser
Fundraiser extraordinaire John Maxwell put on another great night on Friday with the first Race Night in support of Midsteeple Quarter. John is the landlord of the Stag Bar on Bank St (in the Midsteeple Quarter) and all races were sponsored by other businesses from Bank Street. A great night was had by all
Doon Toon Army Takes It To The Street!
The Doon Toon Army headed out onto the High Street for the first time on Sunday to clean, scrub, paint and change areas of the town centre. The event marked the beginning for the army to tackle key areas around the High Street, as well as an opportunity to meet new people and share skills
Doon Toon Army Meet ‘n’ Clean
You are invited to come along to the Stove café, 100 High Street, Dumfries on Sunday 13th May at 12pm to take part in the first meet and clean up for the ‘DOON TOON ARMY’.

Our whole project is based on a proud heritage of people living and loving our High Street. The Midsteeple Quarter (MSQ) project is an ambitious one and we’re delighted to have reached a point in our project where we can bring members of our community on board to work with us.
High Street Hoose Awards!
The Bakers Oven in Queensbury Square has been lit up since January as part of the D-Lux Festival of Light. The building has been turned into a video jukebox, which shows specially made 30-second films which have been made by the community of Dumfries who want to imagine a new future for the High Street
